Additional Sockets & Switches
If a room runs on extension leads and multi-way adaptors, the answer isn't a longer extension lead. Adding sockets where they're actually needed is usually a small job with a disproportionate effect on how a room works.
Where extra outlets earn their keep
The rooms we get called to most are the ones the house was not designed for:
- Home offices - desk, screens, dock and charger on one wall
- Kitchens and utilities, where appliances have outgrown the sockets
- Bedrooms, for bedside charging and USB outlets
- Living rooms, where the TV wall has accumulated a nest of adaptors
- Garages and lofts converted to something they were not wired for
Done properly, not just added
Adding an outlet means checking what the existing circuit can carry before anything is connected, not simply spurring off the nearest socket and hoping. Kitchen and utility circuits in particular are often already working hard.
We chase into the wall and make good rather than surface-clipping cable across a room where we can, match the accessories you already have so the room doesn't end up with three different plate finishes, and test and certify the work. Minor work gets the appropriate certificate.
Switching and controls
Two-way switching so you're not crossing a dark room, a dimmer that works properly with the lamps you actually have, an outside light switched from inside, or a fan and lighting split onto separate switches - small changes, and the sort of thing worth doing while we're there for something else.
Common questions
Is it cheaper to do several at once?
Almost always, yes. Most of the cost of a small job is getting set up and making good, so doing four sockets in one visit costs far less than four separate visits. Make a list before you call.
Can you match my existing sockets?
Usually. Tell us the finish - white moulded, brushed steel, black nickel, screwless - or send a photo with your enquiry and we'll bring accessories that match.
Can you add sockets without ripping the wall about?
There's always some making good where cable is chased in. How much depends on wall construction and where the nearest supply is. We'll tell you what to expect before we start.
